A production company has been spotted in Valencia Road in Stanmore filming a brand new superhero drama series for Netflix.
The film crew have been spotted by multiple members of Harrow Online who claim they have ‘never seen so many production trucks parked on one road’. The crew have been at Stanmore for around a week now filming at different locations. It’s been noted that at least six trucks have been seen on the road, located opposite Stanmore Station.
The new series, called Midtown, is about a group of five South Londoners who unexpectedly develop superpowers. The show was originally called Supacell but has since changed its name to Midtown, the release date is currently unknown.
In November 2021, Netflix tweeted: “A six-part series from writer/director RealRapman
(Blue Story), Supacell follows a random group of ordinary people from South London who unexpectedly develop superpowers, with no clear connection between them other than them all being black.”
In August 2022, the streaming platform added via their website: “SUPACELL will be giving Black creatives the opportunity to break into the TV industry through the Supacell Six scheme. The initiative, founded by Rapman, New Wave and Netflix will give six chosen candidates the opportunity to grow in their chosen field through shadowing crew, access to experts in their field and additional upskilling courses.”
The cast for the show includes Tosin Cole as Michael, Nadine Mills as Sabrina, Eric Kofi Abrefa as Andre, Calvin Demba as Rodney, Josh Tedeku as Tazer, Adelayo Adedayo as Dionne, Rayxia Ojo as Sharleen and Giacomo Mancini as Spud.
It is not known when the show will air on Netflix but as soon as we have more information, we will be sure to update you.
