Northwick Park Hospital trust issue guidance as ambulance crews go on strike

London North West University Healthcare, the trust responsible for Central Middlesex, Ealing, Northwick Park and St. Mark’s hospitals have issued guidance as ambulance crews go on strike today (11 Jan).

Thousands of ambulance workers who are members of the Unison, Unite and GMB unions are on strike across England and Wales today after failing to secure a deal with Health Secretary Steve Barclay over pay.

Ambulance workers in the North-West, North-East, West Midlands, East Midlands and Wales have taken take strike action today including paramedics, emergency care assistants and other emergency service crew members.

Yesterday, the Northwick Park Hospital trust tweeted: “Most of our outpatient appointments are still going ahead tomorrow but we’ll call you if anything changes.

“If you don’t hear anything from us, come in as usual. https://lnwh.nhs.uk/outpatients

Today, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust tweeted: “London Ambulance Service colleagues will go on strike today from 11am to 11pm.

“Our hospital teams are here for you as normal, but remember our A&Es are for serious, life-threatening emergencies only: you’ll be seen quicker elsewhere https://www.lnwh.nhs.uk/right-care

A note on the Trust website says: “Our A&E departments at Ealing Hospital and Northwick Park Hospital are extremely busy.

“If you do need us in an emergency please come on your own. Leave a seat for someone who really needs us.”
