Eight fire engines rush to Hayes as flat goes up in flames

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been called to a flat fire on Douglas Crescent in Hayes this afternoon (24 Jan).

The Brigade confirmed that a flat on the first floor of the two storey block is completely alight. One woman and one man left the property before the Brigade arrived.

Fire crews and police assisted one woman in evacuating from a ground floor flat.

The Brigade was called at 3:01pm and is still at the scene.

Fire crews from Southall, Northolt, Hillingdon, Heston, Stanmore and Chelsea fire stations are in attendance.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
