Child taken to hospital after collision in Wealdstone

A road in Wealdstone was blocked southbound by police this evening after a reported collision involving a child.

A large cordon was put in place in George Gange Way at the junction with Palmerston Road roundabout. Police confirmed that there has been a collision and that a cyclist, later confirmed to be a child, had been taken to hospital.

Eye-witnesses say there are a number of emergency vehicles currently at the scene including police cars and at least one ambulance.

One member of Harrow Online said: “Walked by, saw police asking questions and someone in back of ambulance.”

George Gange Way in Wealdstone was blocked southbound due to the incident with the 140, 186, 258, 340 and H10 bus routes affected.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: “Police were called at about 17:30hrs on Sunday, 29 January to reports of a collision involving a car and a cyclist on Canning Road.

“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended. The cyclist was taken to hospital; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.04pm yesterday (29 January) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Canning Road, Harrow.

“We sent an ambulance crew and an emergency responder to the scene.

“We treated a child at the scene before taking them to hospital.”
