Winners revealed as hundreds of Harrow neighbours win huge prize

Over two hundred neighbours in Harrow are celebrating at the moment after winning a huge multi-million-pound prize with the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Their postcode area, HA2 0 in Harrow, was the winner of the £3.2 million lottery prize, with a total of 272 lcoal residents getting a cheque. Winners discovered how much they’d won during a special event at Byron Hall in Wealdstone on Friday (24 February) with lottery ambassadors Jeff Brazier and Danyl Johnson.

Prizes ranged from £8,601 to £51,606 depending on the number of tickets played with. One person, who chose to remain anonymous, won an incredible £378,587 thanks to playing with their full winning postcode.

The winners include:

  • First-time mum Cassey O’Connell, 32, won £8,601.
  • Mariana Voinescu, 49, and Razvan Voinescu, 48, are a married couple who both won £17,202 each.
  • David McGregor, 28, an electrician who won £25,803 and is now planning a trip to Canada.

Married couple Mariana and Razvan Voinescu each scooped £17,202.

Mariana and Razvan Voinescu, a married couple who have been together for 32 years, both play with two tickets. They scooped £17,202 each.

Mariana said: “I can’t believe this, I’m going to cry. It’s my 50th birthday in two days so first of all I will have a great birthday party.”

Her husband, Razvan, added: “I didn’t believe it at first and I said to Mariana ‘maybe this is a scam.’

“This is the first time in my life I have ever won something. It’s a lot for us. Our two kids will be very happy as well.”

David McGregor picked up £25,803 after playing with three tickets.

David McGregor, who works as an electrician, came straight from work to find out how much he’d won. David said: “I want a holiday – I’ve got cousins in Canada, so I’d love to go over there and visit them.

“It feels amazing, I’ll definitely be down the pub celebrating with a couple of beers.

“It’s a really tough time for everyone right now so for this to happen is just great, it’s really good for the community.”

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson was at the event in Harrow handing out cheques. He said: “It’s been fantastic meeting some of our winners in Harrow. It’s been a memorable day and I’m sure there will be lots of celebrations going on across Harrow as people make plans for their winnings!”

The People’s Postcode Lottery is a subscription lottery and there are guaranteed winners every day. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws. A minimum of 33% from each ticket goes to charity.

Local good causes, including London’s Community Kitchen, have also benefitted from player support. The kitchen, which is close to the winners, was awarded £25,000 last year to help people living in food poverty.

February’s Postcode Millions draw was held on behalf of Postcode Support Trust, which funds charities including Missing People and Crisis UK.
