Watch: Police share dramatic rescue footage after Harrow fire

Met Police have shared incredible footage taken from a body-worn camera showing officers and members of the public rescuing a woman from a burning building in Harrow.

The footage, taken on 15 Jan this year, shows how the police worked tirelessly to gain access to the property on Headstone Road, Harrow after a woman was reported inside.

Aided by members of the public, officers were able to gain access to the house via a back door.

At the time of the incident, smoke could be seen for miles around the Harrow area and members of the Harrow Online shared images and footage via our social channels.

Posting via Twitter, Met Police said: “Officers and members of the public come together to save a woman from a burning building.

“Watch the body-worn video, which shows how everyone worked tirelessly to gain access to the property.

“Without their swift and selfless actions, this situation could have been a lot worse.”

After the fire, Inspector Bernie Cryan, of the North West Command Unit said: “What the officers have done here is just one example of the brave work officers across London are doing day in, day out.

“Without thinking about their own safety they have taken immediate steps to get into that property and bring the woman to safety. It is clear that without their swift and selfless actions this situation could have been a lot worse.”
