Council allocate £115k for play equipment for ‘older children’ in Hendon Park

Barnet Council’s West Area Committee has allocated £115,000 to increase the amount of play equipment for older children at Hendon Park.

The move comes as part of the council’s commitment to improving the borough’s parks and open spaces, which are an important part of what makes Barnet a green and family-friendly area.

The proposed additional play equipment is aimed at older children and is designed to encourage them to be more active and engage with their local community. The equipment includes a zip wire, climbing wall, and adventure trail.

The council is seeking the views of local residents on the proposed equipment and its location.

A questionnaire has been made available online, and a pop-up event will be held at Hendon Park playground, where council staff will be on hand to discuss the plans and answer any questions residents may have. The event will take place on Tuesday 4 April 2023 from 10:30am to 1:30pm.

Residents who prefer an alternative format for the questionnaire can request one via email or telephone. The council has provided contact details for this purpose.

Once the consultation period is over, the council will publish the findings and act on the results under the “We asked, You said, We did” section of its website.

It’s hoped that the allocation of funds for additional play equipment at Hendon Park will help make Barnet a more vibrant and active community, encouraging people of all ages to engage with the parks and open spaces.
