The Harrow Online team went to check out Teamsport Watford during the holidays, the local go-karting track nearest to Harrow and one of the largest in Hertfordshire.
Three of us went to try it and we can confirm it is a great place to go for a thrilling go-karting experience for all ages.
The 500-metre track features ramps and different levels, making it a fun and exciting challenge for drivers of all skill levels, even for younger children who may be new to karting. When we went, we tried the Family Adult Ultimate Race Experience for three, which includes a full safety briefing, all safety equipment, and two 15-minute driving sessions with a break in between.
At the end of each session, you get to see the lap times on a chart on the wall monitor, it’s always interesting to see when you come and you get all the racers clambering around to find out their results.
The non-exclusive use of the track means that there may be other family groups racing alongside you, which adds to the competitive spirit of the experience. The nature of the racing itself means there are some competitive people there, so make sure you are aware that there are fully grown adults and children racing at the same time, which is fun but can also be daunting for some.
The cost of the experience is quite expensive at £99.90, but the quality of the experience justifies the price tag. The price does not include the gloves and balaclava that are also needed to race, which you can book online, or upon arrival. The onsite bar provides plenty of food and drinks options, we went for pizza and soft drinks, which were ok, but not exceptional. However, it’s a nice touch to have food and drinks available on-site for a quick bite in between races.
It’s worth noting that the experience is suitable for drivers aged 8 years and over, with a minimum inside leg measurement of 25 inches. Additionally, drivers aged 13 years and over from the same family group may join them in an adult kart, if their inside leg measures 29 inches or more. This really does make it a great activity for families with children of different ages. Although it’s listed as Watford, the location is just next to Bushey, and those familiar with Parents Paradise will know it as it’s based in the same area.
In addition to the karting, there’s a mini golf centre on-site too. This is somewhat of a hidden gem as for those who want to stay a little longer, you can couple up the golf experience with the karting for a lengthy day of family fun. Although it’s not as big as some of the other mini golf centres around, it’s still a nice addition to the centre and worth checking out.
Overall, the go-karting experience at Teamsport Watford is highly recommended. The track is challenging and fun, and the competitive spirit of the experience makes it a thrilling activity for groups or families. The food and drinks are adequate, but it’s the karting that steals the show.
