Catalytic converter theft at Costco car park in Bushey

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a catalytic converter was stolen from a Toyota Prius parked in the Costco car park on Hartspring Lane in Bushey.

The incident took place between 11am and 12pm on Friday 31 March, Herts Police have confirmed in a statement on their website.

PC Eryka Morris, who is investigating, is urging anyone who saw anything or anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time to come forward.

She is also asking drivers who have a dashcam fitted and were driving in the area to check their footage for any potentially useful information.

Drivers are advised to take precautions to avoid becoming victims of catalytic converter thefts, including having their catalytic converters etched or forensically marked, fitting protective coverings such as the Toyota-manufactured CATLOC device, and considering having the bolts welded to make removal more difficult.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to email PC Morris, quoting crime reference number 41/26453/23.

Information can also be reported online or by calling the non-emergency number 101, quoting the same crime reference number.
