A car crashed into an outbuilding car park roof in Long Elmes, Harrow Weald, causing severe structural damage today (04 May).
The road was closed off in both directions at the junction with Carmelite Road due to the incident. Bus routes on divert at the time included the H12, H18 and H19, the road reopened a short time afterwards.
The incident happened in the car park area of St Barnabas Court, a care home in the area, within the last 30 minutes. A car appears to have veered off the road (Long Elmes) and into the pillars supporting the structure.
Eyewitnesses report that the car, which appears to be badly damaged, crashed into a wall supporting the roof of the building, causing significant structural damage and causing the roof to partially decline.
A Met Police spokesperson told Harrow Online: “Police were called at 09:46hrs after a car collided with a wall in Long Elmes, Harrow. No reports of any serious injuries and no arrests.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.50am today (4 May) to reports of a collision on Long Elmes, Harrow.
“We sent an incident response officer to the scene and treated one patient before discharging them at the scene.
“Our medic arrived in five minutes.”
