The Leader of Harrow Council, Cllr Paul Osborn, has praised the diversity of the borough in a message to residents via the MyHarrow newsletter.
In his message, Cllr Osborn highlighted the success of the weekend’s celebrations and the importance of diversity in Harrow.
“We were treated to a remarkable spectacle last weekend. Harrow marked the occasion in style, with street parties and community events. The ceremony in Westminster Abbey was witnessed globally and showcased the best of the country. I’m proud that our celebrations in Harrow were also successful at bringing people together,” said Cllr Osborn.
Cllr Osborn went on to highlight the diversity of Harrow, one of the most religiously diverse council areas in the country, and how it played a role in the celebrations. “It was great to see many of our places of worship lit-up in celebration.
“The deeper significance of the celebrations I think is in our expression of shared values and sense of togetherness, something of which I think we can all be proud,” he said.
Harrow has a rich history of diversity and multiculturalism, with over 100 languages spoken in the borough. Cllr Osborn’s message underscores the importance of celebrating diversity and the role it plays in bringing people together.
