Successful knife arch operation conducted at Watford college

Officers from the Hemel Hempstead Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) recently conducted a knife arch operation at West Herts College in Watford as part of their ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of carrying knives.

The operation, held on Tuesday, April 25, saw 300 students pass through the arch, with an additional 60 students randomly checked using handheld wands.

Fortunately, the operation yielded no discoveries of knives or weapons, marking a positive outcome for the police team and the college community.

PC Attila Cseh of Hemel Hempstead’s SNT expressed his satisfaction with the operation, stating, “Knife crime remains relatively low in the county, but we are not complacent and will continue to engage with young people to highlight the dangers of carrying knives and the implications it can have.”

He further emphasised the significance of operations like this, sending a clear message that knives have no place in their communities.

PC Cseh also mentioned the encouraging feedback received from participating students at the college in Watford, who expressed gratitude for the awareness-raising initiative.
