Independent College in Harrow rated ‘Inadequate’ in recent Ofsted inspection

Harrow Independent College, located on Eastcote Lane, recently underwent an inspection by Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills.

The inspection, which took place from 28 February to 2 March 2023, revealed several shortcomings in the school’s overall effectiveness and adherence to independent school standards and resulted in an ‘inadequate’ rating.

In the inspection, Harrow Independent College’s performance in various aspects was evaluated. The quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management were all found to require improvement, resulting in an overall inadequate rating.

Notably, the school had previously received a good rating during the previous inspection. As a result of the current inspection, the school does not meet the independent school standards.

A spokesperson for Harrow Independent College told Harrow Online: “The college made every effort to co-operate fully with the Ofsted Inspectors and their findings were accepted to reasonable extent. We are now working alongside the Department for Education (DfE) and Safeguarding Team at Harrow Council to overcome the areas identified for improvement. We are a small college but working hard to achieve all the parameters required to satisfy the secretary of state for Education.”
