There was a substantial police presence in the vicinity of Christchurch Avenue, Harrow this afternoon (20 May).
Residents sent footage to Harrow Online showing a number of police cars at the car park area opposite Byron Hall.
A spokesperson for Met Police said: “Police were present today at Harrow Leisure Centre as part of a pre-planned community event for Eritrea’s Independence Day.
“A small group attended to demonstrate against the celebrations.
“Some minor disorder took place in around the leisure centre leading to a Section 35 Dispersal Authority being granted covering the HA3 area.
”Some arrests were made linked with breaches to this authority and for public order offences and police dispersed those intent on causing disruption leaving the event to peacefully continue.”
