Man charged after incident in McDonald’s in Watford Town Centre

A man has been charged following an incident at McDonald’s in Watford Town Centre last weekend.

Herts Police said in a statement posted on their website: “On Sunday 21 May, at around 9.26pm, police were called to reports that a man had entered the McDonald’s in The Parade, High Street and had gone behind the counter, before stealing food to the value of £40.

“When a member of staff confronted him, he alleged that he had a knife, though no weapons were seen.

“The man then left the shop, reportedly approaching members of the public in the street and behaving aggressively towards them.

“Officers arrested a man in the High Street in connection with the incident, and he was taken in to police custody.

“Elliot Belsham, aged 35 and from Watford, was subsequently charged with robbery, being drunk and disorderly in a public place, public nuisance, and common assault. He appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning (Tuesday 23 May), where he was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance.”
