Harrow friends to tackle 250-mile cycle and 26-mile row for charity

Richard Rosenberg, Laurence Finger, Charles Bradbrook plus three others will take part in an epic London to Paris cycle challenge and River Thames row this week (2nd June) to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Setting off on Friday 2nd June, the group from Harrow will cycle from Richmond Park in London to Paris in three days with friends and colleagues joining them along the way. Upon their arrival back to London, they will then row the equivalent of the English Channel along the River Thames, from Richmond to Putney and back again, on Tuesday 6th June.

The group, led by Teenage Cancer Trust Trustee, Richard Rosenberg, are aiming to raise £50,000 for the charity with the June challenge that will see them tackle 250 miles by bike and 26 miles by rowboat.

The money raised will be used by Teenage Cancer Trust to give every young person facing cancer the best care and support.

Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words “you have cancer” and Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to providing the specialist care they need.

This is not the first time that Richard, Laurence and Charles, who are all over 65 years old, have raised money for the charity. The trio have previously taken part in similar sporty challenges over the years including cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats in 2019 and the following year cycling to all of Teenage Cancer Trust’s 28 Units across the UK.

This will challenge will bring their fundraising total for the charity to over £1million, but this is set to be their last adventure.

On the challenge, Richard Rosenberg, Teenage Cancer Trust Trustee, said: “I am delighted to be joined by colleagues and friends on this final fundraising challenge for Teenage Cancer Trust.

“We have worked hard over the years to raise as much as we can and spread awareness of the charity and this will be a great way to round off our efforts. Thanks to those who have donated already and shown support for us and the charity.”

“We are so delighted and proud that Richard and his group are fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust once again. On behalf of everyone at Teenage Cancer Trust, we wish them the best of luck!”
