Back in April, Harrow Council initiated a six-week engagement period for residents of Rainsford Close in Stanmore to address ongoing parking issues.
The consultation is set to conclude in just three days on June 8, 2023.
The background to this consultation dates back to April 2021 when the council received a petition from Rainsford Close residents, requesting to be excluded from the existing controlled parking zone (CPZ) operational from Monday to Friday between 3pm and 4pm. Instead, they proposed the creation of a separate zone with extended hours of control to tackle the parking problems specific to their area.
The petition was thoroughly reviewed during the Traffic and Road Safety Advisory Panel (TARSAP) meeting in March 2022. As a result, Rainsford Close was included in the council’s parking program for the 2022-23 period.
The ongoing consultation aims to gather feedback from all individuals residing within the designated consultation area. Participants are asked to indicate whether they have encountered parking difficulties and to express their support for two potential options:
- The implementation of a new CPZ operational from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6:30pm.
- The implementation of a new CPZ, operational from Monday to Friday, between 8am and midnight.
In addition, residents will have the opportunity to extend the operational hours to include Saturdays and/or Sundays for both proposed options.
Harrow Council hopes that this consultation will identify any existing parking issues and enable them to introduce appropriate measures to regulate parking effectively. The ultimate goal is to alleviate commuter parking and create more available road space for residents.
The objectives of this engagement process include raising community awareness regarding the purpose and potential implications of altering parking restrictions in Rainsford Close. The council is committed to conducting a meaningful, inclusive, and transparent consultation to understand the views of the community concerning potential parking concerns.
The feedback received will inform any necessary changes to parking regulations in Rainsford Close, and the council plans to provide the community with updates to demonstrate their responsiveness to the input received.
To participate in the consultation, interested individuals are encouraged to review the supporting documents and frequently asked questions (FAQs) available on the Rainsford Close parking engagement page.
