Deadline looms for Stanmore road ‘parking issues’ consultation

Back in April, Harrow Council initiated a six-week engagement period for residents of Rainsford Close in Stanmore to address ongoing parking issues.

The consultation is set to conclude in just three days on June 8, 2023.

The background to this consultation dates back to April 2021 when the council received a petition from Rainsford Close residents, requesting to be excluded from the existing controlled parking zone (CPZ) operational from Monday to Friday between 3pm and 4pm. Instead, they proposed the creation of a separate zone with extended hours of control to tackle the parking problems specific to their area.

The petition was thoroughly reviewed during the Traffic and Road Safety Advisory Panel (TARSAP) meeting in March 2022. As a result, Rainsford Close was included in the council’s parking program for the 2022-23 period.

The ongoing consultation aims to gather feedback from all individuals residing within the designated consultation area. Participants are asked to indicate whether they have encountered parking difficulties and to express their support for two potential options:

  1. The implementation of a new CPZ operational from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6:30pm.
  2. The implementation of a new CPZ, operational from Monday to Friday, between 8am and midnight.

In addition, residents will have the opportunity to extend the operational hours to include Saturdays and/or Sundays for both proposed options.

The council is committed to conducting a meaningful, inclusive, and transparent consultation to understand the views of the community concerning potential parking concerns.
