Ten fire engines and 70 firefighters rush to Mill Hill

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters have rushed to Northway Crescent in Mill Hill to tackle a fire.

London Fire Brigade Tweeted: “Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters have been called to a fire on Northway Crescent in #MillHill. Our 999 Control Officers have taken more than 40 emergency calls. Please avoid the area. More info soon.”

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled a fire on Northway Crescent in Mill Hill.

A range of garages and gardens were alight. Residents in the local area were advised to keep their doors and windows closed. 25 people were evacuated from surrounding houses as crews worked to bring the fire under control and cool gas cylinders present at the incident.

The fire was very visible and our 999 Control Officers received around 50 calls. Nearby roads, including the A1, A41 and M1 remain extremely busy and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

The Brigade was called at 1652. Crews from Mill Hill, Hendon, Stanmore and surrounding fire stations attended the scene. Firefighters from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
