Chinese restaurant in Harrow closes down after 40 years in business

The Taste of China, a popular Chinese restaurant on Station Road, Harrow has closed down after forty years in business.

A note posted on the official Taste of China website said: “It is with great regret and a heavy heart that the management at Taste Of China has decided to close the restaurant with immediate effect and until further notice.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful customers for their incredible support over the years. We wish you all good health and happiness for the future.”

Signage from the restaurant has now been removed and it is believed another eatery is soon to open up at the premises in Harrow.

Speaking to Harrow Online during the 2020 pandemic, Co-director Hitesh Thakrar, 60, said the business had experienced a ‘complete downturn’ in trade at the Station Road restaurant, leaving them with no choice but to reduce their opening hours.

Mr Thakrar added, “We feel really, really sorry for our staff. Taste of China was a buzzing place, but now I feel so sad walking into there. Our staff feel for us as well. They know we can’t sustain losses and keep them in employment.”
