Wembley Park to host spectacular lineup of free dance classes this weekend

Wembley Park has announced an exhilarating day of dance workshops in collaboration with Rambert, Britain’s oldest dance company, as part of its exciting Summer of Play events program.

On Sunday, 16th July, the Rambert Dance Day will take place, offering free classes suitable for all ages and skill levels.

The Rambert Dance Day will feature an array of dance styles taught by Rambert’s renowned and diverse faculty teachers. The event will kick off with Sheba Montserrat’s Caribbean Dance Vibes workshop, which not only teaches dance moves but also explores the rich history of Caribbean and Black British dance development. Sheba, a highly experienced dance teacher, expressed her passion for dance by saying, “It’s about feeling the music and the conscious delight in embodying it.”

Sheba’s workshops will take place at 12pm and 2:15pm, allowing participants to take breaks and rest between each dance style. In addition to Caribbean Dance Vibes, participants can join Danielle for a signature Disco class, learning groovy moves from the 1970s and disco line dances. Simone will teach the art of the Robot, while Coco will introduce the latest K-Pop dances and music trends. Emma will take participants back in time to the 1950s and 1960s with a Rock & Roll stroll, and Rosie will wrap up the day with an energetic hip-hop dance workshop.

The event will conclude with Rose, Rambert’s Street Dance Foundations teacher, offering free hip-hop dance workshops and a freestyle session for participants to showcase their individual styles. Rose, an accomplished dancer in multiple genres, has made a significant impact as both a performer and teacher across various countries.

Jo Taylor, Director of Audiences at Rambert, expressed excitement about the event, stating, “At Rambert, we believe that to give brilliant and daring people the chance to inspire others is to give them the power to change the world for the better. We can’t wait to welcome you to Rambert. It’s your move, Wembley Park.”

Rambert has a history of engaging audiences in Wembley Park, having previously captivated crowds during the Wembley Park Jubilee Dance Party with their rock & roll sessions and Caribbean Niceness dance class. They also amazed spectators with their spectacular production of “Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby” at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre last year.

The Rambert Dance Day is part of Wembley Park’s wider Summer of Play program, which offers over 300 hours of free events. Josh McNorton, Cultural Director of Wembley Park, spoke of the partnership with Rambert, stating, “We are thrilled to be delivering a diverse range of exhilarating events over the summer months, showcasing Wembley Park’s cultural and creative heartbeat.”

The Wembley Park Rambert Dance Day is open to everyone interested in learning new dance moves and immersing themselves in the vibrant energy of the experience. No tickets are required!.
