Ealing Council is faced with unexpected challenges as Henry Construction Projects Limited enters administration, causing potential delays in the completion of vital housing schemes in the borough.
In a statement released by the council, they expressed their commitment to finding a solution and ensuring the construction of the promised homes.
“We understand unexpected labour and material cost increases have impacted their ability to deliver the new schemes,” the council acknowledged. Despite the setback, they reassured the public that the new homes at Shackleton Road, Dean Gardens, Chesterton and Evesham Close, Wood End Library, and Norwood Road would still be built.
Highlighting their dedication to delivering new and affordable homes across the borough, the council made the difficult decision to terminate the existing building contracts with Henry Construction and secure the project sites. They emphasised their immediate focus on securing a different contractor to bring these schemes to completion.
“We have engaged with our legal advisors to help secure a different contractor to bring these schemes to completion,” the statement read. The council aims to mitigate the financial impact by utilising insurance in place, but a delay in the completion of the new homes is regrettably expected.
Ealing Council also noted their collaborative relationship with the Greater London Authority (GLA), their funding partner for affordable homes. “We work closely with the GLA as our funding partner for new genuinely affordable homes and have kept them fully informed as the situation has developed,” the statement revealed.
Acknowledging the patience and understanding of those affected by this situation, Ealing Council pledged to provide regular updates on the administration proceedings.
