According to the latest crime data obtained from crimerate.co.uk, Harrow has once again solidified its position as the second safest borough in London.
The figures for 2022 showcase Harrow’s exemplary safety record, with an overall crime rate of only 60 crimes per 1,000 people. This is a remarkable 37% lower than the entire London region, which reported an average crime rate of 95 incidents per 1,000 residents.
In comparison to England, Wales, and Northern Ireland as a whole, Harrow stands tall as the second safest city, ranking at the 2,632nd position among all towns, cities, and villages, emphasising the borough’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment for its residents.
The data further revealed that the most common crimes in Harrow are violence and sexual offences, which amounted to 5,149 recorded incidents in 2022, leading to a crime rate of 20. While this represents a 5% increase compared to the figures of 2021, it is essential to note that the difference from 2021’s crime rate of 19 is merely 1.05, indicating the overall stability of the area’s crime statistics.
On a positive note, Harrow witnessed a significant drop in offences related to possession of weapons, with only 70 recorded incidents in 2022. This represents a notable decrease of 2.8% from the figures reported in 2021 when 72 such crimes were recorded.
