The Welldon Park Academy, a school under The Pegasus Partnership Trust, has achieved a remarkable feat by receiving a “GOOD” rating in all areas under the new Ofsted framework.
The achievement is a testament to the significant transformation the school has undergone since it became an academy in March 2019, following the closure of its predecessor school in 2018.
The two-day OFSTED inspection in June 2023 involved a thorough assessment of all aspects of the Welldon Park Academy by a team of four inspectors. The positive outcome of the inspection highlighted the school’s excellence across areas including Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.
Inspectors praised the leadership team, noting that “Leaders have high expectations for all pupils. They know and understand pupils and their families well…Leaders have designed a broad and ambitious curriculum.” The vibrant and inclusive school environment also garnered praise, as inspectors observed the children’s confidence and pride when talking about Welldon, its values, staff, and the learning experience it provides.
Rachel Bates, Associate Headteacher of Welldon Park Academy, expressed her delight at the school’s recognition, saying, “Welldon’s warmth is everywhere from when you step into the office, to the children and families in the playground. It is a very happy and energetic place to be. Children are nurtured and treated as individuals. I am incredibly proud of every member of our community, and Ofsted’s recognition is the icing on the cake!”
Sash Hamidi, Executive Headteacher and CEO of The Pegasus Partnership Trust, emphasized the importance of the Welldon community and its identity, which resonates deeply with the local community it serves. He praised the collective efforts of the children, staff, leaders, and governance teams in bringing about this remarkable improvement, stating, “Everyone has been ambitious and relentless in transforming Welldon into a community who can once again hold their head up high and feel proud.”
While celebrating the “GOOD” rating, Hamidi acknowledged that the pursuit of excellence continues, saying, “Have we perfected everything? Not yet…but we will never stop giving our all.” The Pegasus Partnership Trust, in conjunction with partner school Priestmead Primary School, remains dedicated to providing the best primary-focused Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) for the children of Harrow.
Prospective parents interested in experiencing the Welldon Park Academy firsthand can take advantage of the school’s weekly tours, which are held every Tuesday morning during term time, starting at 9.15am.
