Harrow travel alerts: Plan ahead for disruptions and station closure this weekend

Attention Harrow residents! If you’re gearing up for the weekend, we’ve got some essential travel updates that should be on your radar.

From station closures to service impacts, we’re here to ensure you’re well-prepared for any disruptions that might come your way this weekend.

Saturday 12 August: Wembley Central Station Closure and Chiltern Railways Service Impact

On Saturday 12 August, please note that Wembley Central station will be closed due to planned engineering work. Additionally, there will be no Chiltern Railways service to/from Wembley Stadium station because of industrial action.

For Rugby Challenge Cup Finals:

If you’re attending the Rugby Challenge Cup Finals, we recommend using alternative routes via the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines to/from Wembley Park. This will help you reach your destination without any disruptions.

Bakerloo Line Update: Friday 11 to Thursday 17 August

Between Friday 11 and Thursday 17 August, there will be no service on the Bakerloo line between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone. If you need to travel to/from central London during this time, consider using alternative routes such as the Jubilee, Metropolitan, Central, or Piccadilly lines.

You can also rely on London Northwestern Railway services or local bus routes. For those traveling between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone, bus routes 18, N18, 36, 112, 266, 487, 718, and 719 are available.

Please be aware that bus routes 718 and 719 are temporary options during this line closure. Bus route 718 will run every 10 minutes between Harrow & Wealdstone and Queen’s Park. Bus route 719 will operate every 15 minutes from 07:00 to 19:00, Monday to Friday, between Wembley Park and Queen’s Park.

Kenton Bus Diversions:

Due to a burst water main, buses on route 718 are being diverted and will not serve Kenton station. While the water works are ongoing, a special shuttle bus will run every 30 minutes between Kenton and Harrow & Wealdstone. For those traveling southbound from Kenton to central London, the Metropolitan line from Northwick Park station is recommended. If you’re heading to destinations along the Bakerloo line towards Queen’s Park, you can change at Preston Road for bus 718.

Watford Junction to Euston: No Service

From Friday 11 to Thursday 17 August, there will be no service between Watford Junction and Euston. During this time, you can use London Northwestern Railway services or consider bus routes 718 and 720.

Bus route 720 will operate every 20 minutes between Watford Junction and Harrow-on-the-Hill (via Harrow & Wealdstone). Bus route 718 will run every 10 minutes between Harrow & Wealdstone and Queen’s Park.
