Police respond to welfare concern in Harrow Town Centre

Emergency services rushed to St Ann’s Road in Harrow Town Centre this evening after concern for the welfare of a man.

Images and footage sent to Harrow Online showed a large police presence next to St George’s Shopping Centre shortly after 7pm.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.31pm yesterday (23 August) to reports of an incident at St George’s Shopping Centre, Harrow.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car and a clinical team manager to the scene.

“We assessed a man at the scene before taking him to hospital.”

A spokesperson for Met Police told Harrow Online: “Police were called to St Ann’s Road, Harrow at about 18:38hrs on Wednesday 23 August following concerns for the welfare of a man.

“Emergency services attended and engaged with the man.

“He was subsequently detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act.”
