Police rush to Bentley Priory Nature Reserve after potential WW2 landmine found

Police rushed to Bentley Priory in Stanmore yesterday after reports of a suspected WW2 landmine discovery.

The incident was deemed a false alarm and was stood down at 5:10pm after police being on site for over an hour.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: “Police were called at about 15:35hrs on Thursday, 24 August to reports of a suspected World War 2 ordnance found at Bentley Priory Nature Reserve.

“Officers attended and examined the item.

“There was a full stand down at 17:10hrs.”
