Stanmore incident: Man stabbed to death

Emergency services rushed to Stanmore this afternoon after reports of a stabbing.

Multiple police, cars and ambulances were spotted at the scene on Masefield Avenue by members of the public.

A large police cordon was swiftly put in place and a forensic tent could be seen near to where the incident is believed to have happened.

There were long traffic delays around the area as Waleran Close, Chenduit Way and the surrounding estate were closed off by police while forensics investigated.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called today (4 September) at 4:55pm to reports of an incident on Masefield Avenue, Stanmore.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including two medics in fast-response cars, an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a person at the scene, but unfortunately, despite our teams’ best efforts they were pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police statement on Stanmore stabbing

A spokesperson for Met Police said: “Officers were called at 16:50hrs on Monday, 4 September to Masefield Avenue, Stanmore following reports that a man had been stabbed at the location.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, with a stab injury to the chest.

“Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“A crime scene is in place. No arrests. Enquiries continue.”
