The Stanmore community was left in shock yesterday afternoon when a man lost his life in a stabbing on Masefield Avenue.
The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, has prompted concerns from the local residents and follows another fatal stabbing in Harrow just last month.
Yesterday (September 4th) around 4:50pm, Masefield Avenue, just off Uxbridge Road, was disrupted by reports of a stabbing. Despite the swift response of emergency services, the victim tragically did not survive.
The Metropolitan Police issued a statement, saying, “Officers were called to Masefield Avenue, Stanmore, following reports of a man being stabbed at the location.
”A crime scene has been established, and our investigation is ongoing. At this time, no arrests have been made.”
This incident has left residents in shock and raised concerns about community safety, there have now been at least seven knife crime related incidents in Harrow since the start of the year.
Neil Sullivan posted via the Harrow Online Facebook page, “Back in the 80s when I was growing up, the whole of the HA postcode area was a sought-after place and pleasant to live! Terrible what has happened over the years.”
Lina Saphora described the scene, “I’ve just gone past, and there’s a tent clearly protecting a body, a knife in someone’s driveway, and loads of police. It was sad driving past, knowing that someone’s child was laid on the ground, and his life has ended.”
Jason P called for increased police presence, saying, “I wish these incidents would stop happening; there needs to be more police on the streets, a visual deterrent to these crimes. So sad hearing about this, near to where I grew up too.”
Joanne Peterson stated, “Sadly, the person died, and no one is allowed to come in or out of Masefield Avenue, possibly until tomorrow.”
