A Watford leisure centre hosted a charity football tournament, raising £1,625 in charitable funds to support the local community.
Watford Woodside Leisure Centre, run by Everyone Active in partnership with Watford Council, hosted the event alongside local charity football club, Al Qulub Trust.
The tournament raised vital funds for the Watford Community Fund, which helps those most in need across the local area, by supporting multiple charities across the town. In turn those charities offer vital support for families such as emergency food supplies, housing support, and mental health advice, plus much more.
The fun-filled event received widespread interest, with 13 football teams signed up to compete, and all registration fees going towards the charity fund.
Kelly Spencer, contract manager at Everyone Active said: “It’s fantastic to see local community groups come together to raise funds for such an important cause.
“A huge thanks to CBS Accounts and Tarboosh Watford for sponsoring the tournament. We hope to work with the groups in future on continued opportunities to drive further support locally.”
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “It was great to present the prizes at the Watford Leisure Centre Woodside 7-a-side Football tournament. This event, organised in partnership with the Al-Qulub Trust, not only brought people together in the spirit of fun competition but also raised vital funds for the Watford Community Fund, which helps those in need throughout Watford.
