New bus route to connect Harrow and Finchley as Superloop expands

Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed the introduction of two essential express bus services that will significantly impact the Harrow borough’s transportation network.

The first route will link Harrow and North Finchley (SL10), while the second will connect North Finchley and Walthamstow (SL1).

These services are the result of thorough public consultations aimed at establishing limited-stop routes that promise to enhance connectivity in the region.

Both routes will become integral components of London’s Superloop express bus service, designed to improve transportation links in the capital’s outer boroughs.

The process began in June 2023 when TfL initiated consultations regarding potential routes for Superloop inclusion. In July and August 2023, TfL renumbered four existing express bus routes, laying the foundation for the new Superloop bus routes.

Last month, the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan welcomed the first Superloop bus to the road, the Mayor confirmed that the full loop will be complete by Spring 2024, subject to consultation and with the exception of route SL4, which will start when the Silvertown tunnel opens in 2025.

With these initial consultations now complete, the local community eagerly anticipates the practical implementation of the new routes.

In addition, it’s worth noting that as of August 26th, route X140 has been rebranded as route SL9, offering an express bus service between Heathrow and Harrow, serving all the same stops as X140.
