Pragna Raghwani, a dedicated optician with 20 years of experience, is breaking barriers and inspiring the next generation in the field of optical and audiological care.
As the store director at Specsavers Barnet, Pragna has not only excelled in her career but has also passionately advocated for education and professional development.
Throughout her career, Pragna has worn multiple hats, including that of an examiner, mentor, and coach for the Association of British Dispensing Opticians. Her commitment to the field extends to her involvement in local school career fairs, where she actively engages with teenagers and young adults, sharing insights about pursuing careers in optical and audiological care.
Pragna has now become a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) ambassador, joining a cohort of dedicated volunteers from various fields within STEM.
These ambassadors aim to inspire the youth to explore careers in optics, from becoming clinicians and lab technicians to optometrists, and even store owners as Partners.

What makes Pragna’s journey even more remarkable is her resilience in the face of adversity. Diagnosed with normal tension glaucoma in 2010, she has bravely confronted the challenges posed by her condition.
Over the years, she has lost 30% of her vision, but this setback hasn’t deterred her from pursuing her goals and aspirations.
