Parents in Harrow are reminded that the deadline for applications for secondary school places is fast approaching.
Children born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013 are eligible to start secondary school next year. To secure a place, parents must complete an application form before the looming deadline of 31 October 2023.
Applications can be made online, and parents can select up to six schools for their child’s consideration. It’s crucial to note that any applications submitted after the deadline will be considered late and will only be processed in March 2024.
Families applying for a faith school place have additional requirements. They need to fill in a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) and return it directly to the school before the closing date. Some schools may also require a Priest Reference form; detailed information is available on the school admission arrangements page.
For those needing an immediate secondary school place during the current academic year, an in-year application form must be completed. Families arriving from abroad, including the EU, are advised to check their child’s eligibility under their visa entry conditions before submitting an application.
Additionally, parents residing outside Harrow need to apply through their local council, while those not paying Council Tax within Harrow must provide necessary documents to confirm their address.
To assist parents in their decision-making process, information about how secondary school places were allocated in previous years is available. Also, details about open days and evenings for secondary schools in Harrow can be found in the secondary school open day schedule for 2023/24.
Parents are advised to act now before the deadline to ensure a smooth transition to secondary education in September 2024.
