Two horses die after hit and run on M25, police appeal for witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fail-to-stop collision on the M25 in Enfield which resulted in the deaths of two horses.

At approximately 08:50am yesterday morning (Saturday, 7 October), police received a report of an incident between junctions 24 and 25.

The incident involved a collision between a car, suspected to be a dark colored VW Touran, and a horse box being towed by a van. The horse box, transporting two five-month-old foals, overturned as a result of the collision. The driver of the car fled the scene.

One of the horses was killed in the collision and the other had to be put down due to injuries it had sustained.

Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating. They would like to speak with anyone who saw the collision or captured it on dash cam.

Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 1969/07Oct.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
