Harrow Council leader issues statement on Middle East conflict

The Leader of Harrow Council, Cllr Paul Osborn has issued a statement following the recent events in the Middle East.

The statement, in full, says, “The recent news from Israel is deeply distressing. These attacks will have a profound effect on Harrow residents.

“My thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost their lives, lost loved ones, and those caught up in this crisis.

“I condemn this terrorist action and hope a peaceful resolution can be found soon.

“In Harrow, our diversity is our strength. It’s something we pride ourselves in and is part of who we are. We will work with our faith leaders and community groups to maintain our excellent community relations.

“Sadly, we know that at times like these, threatening behavior and hate crimes can increase. Those who seek to divide us will try and exploit our emotions.

“We must stay united and strong to ensure that the great work done over many years by people of all faiths is not undone.

“We are working closely with our partners at the Metropolitan Police and ask everyone to report any instances of hate crime to the police.”
