A shop has received a substantial fine for selling lighter fluid to a 15-year-old volunteer working with Brent and Harrow Trading Standards.
The shop owner and business, trading as Supersave Household on Cricklewood Broadway, plead guilty at Willesden Magistrates Court in October and was subsequently slapped with over £4,500 worth of fines.
This is the second offence this year for the company which has already been hit with a whopping fine for selling knives to another of the council’s volunteers.
Councillor Harbi Farah, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities and Public Protection, said: “This is yet another great example of the good work our Trading Standards team do. It is so important that laws like these are upheld as they not only protect our young people, but also make sure that all residents feel safe in the knowledge that these items are not being sold to youngsters.”
If you suspect a business is selling age restricted products such as lighter fluid, alcohol, knives, illegal tobacco, please report them to Trading Standards via Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 0808 223 1133.
