A local business in Harrow Town Centre was destroyed on Friday night as Smokey Friday Exclusive’s shop was obliterated by fire.
The incident happened at Greenhill Place Market, just off St John’s Road and opposite the old Debenhams building in Harrow Town Centre shortly before midnight.
Smokey Friday Exclusive is an authentic Jamaican, family-run food hut that cooks fresh food every day for Harrow residents.
A spokesperson for Smokey Friday Exclusive told Harrow Online, “Last Friday night (01/12/2023) – the owner of Smokey Fridays Exclusive received a devastating call reporting that his shop was alight. The Fire Brigade was called but could not save the premises. Everything has been incinerated with nothing left to salvage.
“This incident is being investigated by the police and the fire department. The residents of Harrow have created a GoFundMe page to help the Smokey Fridays team get back in business. Any donations received would be
greatly appreciated. Let’s get this team back in business. Many thanks in advance.”
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said, “Firefighters tackled a fire at a mobile food hut on St John’s Road in Harrow on Friday night (December 1).
“The hut was destroyed by fire. A 25 metre cordon was put in place as a precaution and a number of cylinders were cooled to an ambient temperature as a precaution as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
“The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers received 14 calls about the fire. The Brigade was called at 2341 and the fire was extinguished by 0015.”
