Residents in the Stanmore area of Harrow are being urged to remain vigilant following a recent uptick in motor vehicle thefts over the past week.
The incidents, occurring in a twelve hour window between 4pm and 4am, have raised concerns among residents and local police.
The targeted vehicles include a Toyota Cruiser on Belmont Lane, a BMW 740 on Kynance Gardens in Stanmore, a Mercedes GLC 250 on Bellamy Drive, Stanmore and a Mercedes A Class on Uppingham Avenue, also in Stanmore. Additionally, there was an attempted theft of a Bentley on Lansdowne Road near to Harrow Town Centre.
PCSO Trisha Thomas-James posted about the crimes via the OWL website, urging residents to take precautionary measures to safeguard their vehicles. In response to the escalating incidents, she recommends the following crime prevention tips:
- Use Steering Wheel or Gear Stick Lock: Consider investing in a steering wheel or gear stick lock as an added layer of security.
- Double-Check Windows and Doors: Ensure that all windows and doors are closed and properly locked when leaving your vehicle unattended.
- Secure Your Keys: Keep your keys in a safe place, and consider using a Faraday pouch or box to prevent signal boosting, a technique commonly employed by car thieves.
- Install a Tracking Device: Adding a tracking device to your vehicle can significantly increase the chances of recovery in the event of theft.
