In a recent poll conducted by Harrow Online via our Facebook group, members voted for the “Best Pub in Harrow,” and the iconic Castle in Harrow on the Hill emerged victorious with 15% of the votes.
The competition was close, with The Junction, who were recently ranked 5th for Best Sports Pub in the UK, securing a very close second place at 14%.
The Harrow Online team took the opportunity to explore the Castle’s offerings and sampled their Christmas menu, which left us thoroughly impressed.
In joint third place were Trinity in Harrow Town Centre and The Duck in the Pond in Harrow Weald, each capturing 6% of the votes. Other votes went to the likes of South Harrow’s The Star, The Royal Oak in the town centre and The Moon and Sixpence in Hatch End to name a few.
The poll not only provided numerical insights but also offered a platform for members to share their thoughts on pubs in Harrow in general. Some of the Harrow Online members comments included:
Alf E Aaronson: “I’m voting for Junction cos they play rock music (At least they did when I used to go there a while back).”
Delphina James: “The Moon and Sixpence in Hatch End….Great for the family and great for the price. The garden is big…I go there on my own …everyone is friendly. I love it there!”
Anthea Chou: “The newly refurbished McCafferty’s in North Harrow is looking lovely from the outside. Must go in one day.”
Lucia Stevens: “The Star in South Harrow. Great staff, atmosphere and loads going on nearly every day.”
Stef Evans: “White Horse and The Castle are pretty much the only decent pubs, which is sad in a borough of 260,000 people.”
Jason P: “There are lots that have closed down but we are still blessed to have plenty in Harrow, my favourite is The Duck in the Pond but there really are so many to choose from.”
As residents celebrate the holiday season, the Castle stands out as a community favorite, providing a warm and festive atmosphere – if you pay them a visit, be sure to let us know what you think.
