Harrow association honours headteacher at Whitmore High School event

The Harrow Association of Somali Voluntary Organisations held an event at Whitmore High School in Harrow this month to celebrate Ms. Hammond, headteacher and champion for empowering education.

The event took place on December 18, honouring Ms. Hammond’s remarkable career devoted to ensuring that every student excels within diverse communities at the school.

Ms. Hammond, well-known for her commitment to inclusive and fair education, was awarded the esteemed ‘Empowering Education Visionary Award’. The accolade acknowledges her outstanding leadership, creativity, and relentless work in establishing an optimal learning atmosphere for students from various backgrounds.

Hassan M. Qassin, a parent whose children and family members have attended the school for the last 20 years, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Ms. Hammond has been instrumental in ensuring that every child at the school achieved their full potential.

“Her dedication and support were crucial in securing the new build, providing an ideal environment for children to aspire to do better here at Whitmore High School.”

Asmaa Elmi, a former student, shared her success story, stating, “The school, under Ms. Hammond’s guidance, has enabled my entire family to succeed.

“We are all professionals, and my older brother, who also studied at the school, is currently a NHS doctor. Ms. Hammond’s impact goes beyond the classroom, shaping futures and empowering generations.”
