Harrow Amber Weather Warning: Storm Henk to bring strong winds and rain

The Met Office has issued an upgraded amber weather warning for Harrow, effective until around 8pm today, as Storm Henk barrels through the region, bringing with it a spell of very strong winds.

The alert, posted by the Met Office, outlines potential disruptions to travel and utilities, urging residents to brace for possible longer journey times, cancellations in road, rail, air, and ferry services, as well as closures of some roads and bridges.

The weather advisory also highlights the risk of damage to buildings, including tiles being blown from roofs, and the likelihood of flying debris causing injuries or posing a danger to life.

The forecast indicates a significant chance of power cuts that may affect various services, including mobile phone coverage. Coastal areas are advised to be vigilant as large waves and beach material may be thrown onto roads, sea fronts, and properties, posing a potential threat to life.

Responding to the weather warning, Harrow Council posted on X (formerly Twitter), urging residents to exercise caution. “The Met Office has issued a weather warning for strong winds and heavy rain today,” the council announced. They advised residents to take extra care while outdoors and report any fallen trees through their online portal.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on the evolving weather conditions and adhere to safety guidelines provided by local authorities during this period of heightened risk.
