Man suffers ‘life-changing’ injuries after Rickmansworth assault

Hertfordshire Police are investigating a serious assault in Rickmansworth are directly appealing to the driver of a white Audi 4×4 as part of their ongoing enquiries.

The GBH-level assault occurred in Meadow Way at 1.45pm on Tuesday 12 December, where the victim – a man aged in his 30s – suffered what have been described as life-changing injuries to his face and neck.

Since the attack was reported, officers and staff led by the Three Rivers Local Crime Unit have been carrying out numerous enquiries including house-to-house visits and reviewing CCTV footage.

They are now trying to trace the driver of a white Audi 4×4 – thought to be a Q model – which travelled along Meadow Way between 1.30pm and 2pm on the day of the incident, as they believe they could be a vital witness.

Detective Sergeant Darren Machin, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have been working on this case since it was reported to us and we are currently exploring several avenues of enquiry, but we are very keen to trace the driver of this white Audi because we have reason to believe they may be a key witness, or have dashcam footage of the incident.

“I’d like to stress to the public that we are treating the driver as an innocent bystander in this incident and not a suspect, so please – if you think this could be you, a friend or family member, contact us without delay as you could provide us with key information.

“We are also appealing to motorists with dashcams fitted to their vehicles who travelled along Meadow Way, Highfield Way, Berry Lane, Dog Kennel Lane and Nightingale Road between 1.30pm and 2pm on Tuesday 12 December.

“Please review your footage as soon as possible and save any recordings before contacting myself or DC Nathan Kaye, quoting Operation Pipage. Please also ensure you provide the best phone number for yourself so we can call you.”
