Flood alert issued for River Pinn covering Hatch End and Pinner

The Environment Agency has declared a flood alert for River Pinn and Woodridings Stream, cautioning residents in Pinner, Eastcote, Ruislip, Ickenham, Uxbridge, and Yiewsley.

According to the agency, “River levels are rising on the Woodridings Stream of the Pinn, due to heavy rainfall this evening.”

This morning (5 Jan), Hillingdon Council posted on X: “The @EnvAgencySE has issued a Flood Alert for the River Pinn and Woodridings Stream. Flooding is possible for both waterways and could affect parts of Pinner, Eastcote, Ruislip, Ickenham, Uxbridge and Yiewsley.”

While assuring that “no property flooding is expected,” the Environment Agency highlights potential risk areas, stating, “Flooding is possible at Woodhall Gate, Albury Drive, Murray Crescent, Grange Gardens, Chapel Lane, Marsh Road, Hatch End, and High Road.”

The forecast includes “further rainfall throughout the night and into tomorrow.” River levels are anticipated to rise at gauges such as “Waxwell Lane, Uxbridge, Philpots Bridge, Ruislip, Moss Close, Swakeleys Road, Hercies Road, Avenue Road, and Eastcote Road.”

Continuous monitoring is emphasized, with a reminder to “avoid low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses,” coupled with a strong advisory: “Do not attempt to walk or drive through floodwater.”

Residents are informed that the agency will provide updates by 10am this morning (Friday, January 5th), or sooner if the situation changes. The alert encompasses a specific area, and residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and heed safety precautions.
