Elderly woman in critical condition after serious collision in Stanmore, two others injured

A woman in her 80s is fighting for her life after a collision in Stanmore this morning, 8 Jan.

The Common, linking Stanmore and Bushey, has been closed off by police since around 11:00am today after three people, including the woman, were injured in a collision.

Police confirmed that they were called at 10:51hrs on Monday, 8 January to reports of a collision involving two cars at the junction of Stanmore Hill and Heathbourne Road. Officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.

The driver of one of the cars, a woman in her 80s, was taken to hospital where she remains in a life-threatening condition. Police have confirmed that her family have been informed. Two other people were treated for minor injuries and enquiries are ongoing.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called today (8 January) at 10:54am to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars on Heathbourne Road, Stanmore.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an incident response officer, two ambulance crews, and a medic in a fast-response car.

“We treated three people at the scene, two of whom were taken to hospital.”
