Circus Starr returns to Harrow for unique show in January

Circus Starr is set to return to Harrow with its annual inclusive circus show tailored for children with disabilities and additional learning needs.

The not-for-profit organisation prioritises inclusivity, adapting its event by lowering volume, dimming lights, and providing free tickets for its unique audience.

This year’s performances, scheduled for Wednesday, January 17th, at Elliott Hall at Harrow Arts Centre, will feature a British Sign Language interpreter to cater to deaf audience members. Additionally, for the first time in the area, sensory packs will be available to help families prepare for the sensory changes during the show.

Circus Starr collaborated with sensory specialist Joanna Grace to create a story aiding families in navigating the experience.

Ring Mistress Mariska Gandey is proud to present a brand-new show with a diverse lineup of circus talents. ‘Lukinha’, a hilarious clown, will bring laughter to the stage. ‘Nula Hula’ will perform a sensory hoop act, and ‘Sonny Caveagna’ will showcase his juggling skills, promising to create magical memories for the attending children.

Fundraising director Michelle Crossley is looking forward to the Winter tour. “We love sharing our magical art form with those who usually miss out, so we are really excited to be back on the road with another accessible show! Thank you so much to all the businesses who have helped us make a difference in their community.”

Circus Starr, a community interest company, relies on donations to host inclusive events. The organisation reaches out to local businesses in each area they visit, seeking sponsorship to cover the cost of a child’s ticket. The generous support from businesses in Harrow has ensured that this year’s event can proceed.

The performances on January 17th at Elliott Hall will take place at 4:45pm and 7pm.

Circus Starr’s inclusive approach continues to make a positive impact, providing a circus experience for children in Harrow.
