Voluntary Action Harrow is launching a significant initiative in Harrow with the introduction of the “Harrow LGBTQ+ Voices” survey. This survey is open to anyone aged 18 and above who identifies as LGBTQ+ and lives, works, studies, or socialises in Harrow. It seeks to collect insights and experiences to address the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community in the borough.
The survey, which takes about 15 minutes to complete, has been collaboratively designed with input from LGBTQ+ residents of Harrow. It focuses on four main themes: Healthcare, Discrimination, Openness of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, and Social Spaces and Events.
Participants have the option to remain anonymous. Those who complete the survey have the chance to enter a prize draw to win a £100 One4All voucher, adding an incentive to participate.
One of the survey’s notable features is its emphasis on community building. Voluntary Action Harrow is eager to facilitate connections among LGBTQ+ individuals participating in the survey. This provides an opportunity for people to connect with others who share similar experiences and concerns.
In the words of a Harrow resident, “I wonder how many other people are not visible because they don’t feel safe to be.” Another Harrow worker expressed, “I wish that the world would just accept me for being as I see myself, beautifully odd.”
After the survey concludes, a summary of the results will be shared with the public. Recommendations will be formulated based on the feedback, and actions will be taken wherever possible to address identified needs.
This survey presents an opportunity for LGBTQ+ individuals in Harrow to have their voices heard. By participating, they can actively shape a more inclusive and accepting Harrow for all LGBTQ+ residents.
Those interested can join this initiative today by visiting the LGBTQ+ Voices survey, and completing the survey.
