The delight at Pinner Wood is palpable after being graded ‘outstanding’ by an Ofsted inspection carried out in December 2023.
Children, teachers, and staff share their pride at being recognised for their ambitious approach to providing an all-rounded, inclusive education.
Miss Sarah Marriott, the Headteacher, told Harrow Online: “the whole community is thrilled with the outcome. The team of inspectors observed how we educate the whole child, emphasising not only academic achievement but also well-being and skills development. The report highlighted so many commendable aspects of the school, showcasing our commitment to consistently go above and beyond the norm to provide the best possible experiences for the children.”
Inspectors noted that “Pupils flourish, behaviour is excellent, and children benefit from highly positive experiences and an ambitious curriculum. As a result, they achieve exceptionally well across the curriculum.”
The school’s values-led approach was also praised by inspectors: “The values infuse all activities. These help to promote pupils’ understanding of themes such as resilience, compassion and responsibility”.
Inspectors further observed the high value placed on pupil leadership. The Oracy program enables pupils not only to be involved but to use their voice to make a difference in school development. Reyansh, a member of the School ‘Head Squad’, remarked, “We always knew our school was outstanding, and it was good that the inspectors saw this too.”
Mr. Patel, a parent of the school, expressed his gratitude in a letter, stating, “Everyone at Pinner Wood is committed to delivering a great education for our children. You deserve to be celebrated and congratulated for your effort, and it does not go unnoticed.”
Ms. Ophélie Barbet, Chair of the Governors, commented, “The Board of Governors is extremely pleased with the outcome. This achievement is a credit our hard-working school team – whether they are in the classroom, working in the school office, maintaining our premises, or supporting our lunch provision. Their unwavering energy and ambition, always striving to further improve the school and provide the best opportunities and education for the children, is at the root of Pinner Wood’s success.”
As the school community celebrates this achievement, it serves as a moment of reflection on the collective dedication of staff, students, and families, over a number of years, to get this result.
Now looking ahead, Pinner Wood remains resolute in its pursuit of providing the very best education and support to its pupils in becoming responsible and caring citizens. The recognition from inspectors fuels the school’s motivation to explore innovative approaches, ensuring that every child continues to thrive and excel.
