Harrow volunteers team up to paint therapy rooms in Stanmore hospital

The Disability Foundation (TDF) is marking its 25th anniversary this year. Established in 1998, this unique organisation operates with 5 therapy rooms located at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore.

With a dedicated team of over 20 wellbeing practitioners, TDF offers various face-to-face support services, including massage, osteopathy, reflexology, and counseling, to individuals with disabilities (visible or invisible), those with chronic or complex medical conditions, their families, caregivers, care workers, and even NHS personnel.

Last week, local volunteers came together to revitalise TDF’s therapy rooms in Stanmore, brightening them up for users. This project was initiated with a small grant from the Screwfix Foundation, followed by 72 hours of diligent work by volunteers to repaint the rooms in time for reopening on Monday. Thanks to an incredible team of local individuals who responded to a social media call for help, the center now boasts a fresh and much-needed makeover. TDF expresses immense gratitude to all those who participated.

TDF operates as a donation-based service, ensuring that various therapies are accessible and affordable to a wide range of individuals. It is noteworthy as a nonprofit organisation in the UK that offers wellbeing and self-care services without any exclusionary criteria.

TDF not only provides in-person services but also extends its support online and can accommodate home visits upon request. The organisation collaborates with various partners, including Harrow Care Homes and Northwick Park Hospital, to contribute to community-based wellbeing support.
