Blooming Marvelous – Getting ready for spring with Harrow’s garden centres

With spring just around the corner, our thoughts turn to our gardens – and getting them into shape for those long summer days. In this article, we’re hedging our bets on some of Harrow’s fantastic garden centres.

Harrow Garden Centre

Conveniently located on Headstone Lane, HA2 6NB and a Harrow stalwart, The Harrow Garden Centre began its life as a wartime nursery, becoming a garden centre in the 1970s. Today, the centre focuses on residential gardens and stocks a wide range of trees, plants, flowers and garden accessories – along with super friendly and helpful staff. Dog friendly and with free parking, The Harrow Garden Centre also offers visitors snacks, meals, coffee and afternoon tea in the delightful Coffee Haven Restaurant. For added convenience, you can even shop online at Harrow Garden Centre.

Squire’s Garden Centres Stanmore

Perfectly placed among the greenery of Stanmore Common, Squire’s Garden Centres Stanmore is a great place to get some gardening inspiration this spring. As well as a huge range of plants, flowers and garden furniture, Squires also features a pets and aquatic department and stocks Koi and pond fish seasonally. Once you’re all shopped out, you can take a break in the garden centre’s Cafe Bar which has indoor and outdoor seating. For the gardening enthusiast, the centre also holds masterclasses and talks throughout the year. At the moment the centre is operating Winter times, so 9am-5.30pm, but from 1st March (this Friday) they revert to normal opening hours of 9am-6pm and Sundays remain the same of 10.30am-4.30pm (browsing from 10am).

Plantation Garden Centre

Opened in 1981 as a supplier to other garden centres, the Plantation Garden Centre has grown into one of London’s largest and most popular garden centres. If you need it for your garden, you’ll find it here on Kenton Road Harrow as the Plantation Garden Centre stocks everything from seeds to BBQs to sacks of wood for log burners.

Morrisons Garden Centre

While Morrisons is associated more with groceries than gardens, the Hatch End superstore has its very own garden centre which offers a great range of plants, flowers and seeds at reasonable prices. The store can be found at 299 Uxbridge Rd, Pinner HA5 4QT.
