What’s Cooking In Harrow? – A look at our borough’s cooking classes

When our favourite restaurants closed their doors during the COVID-19 pandemic, people turned to cookery books and TV programs for inspiration and, for many, this ignited a passion for food. In this article, we’re serving up some of the best cooking classes in Harrow for 2024.

Harrow Cookery School

Conveniently located on Station Road, the Harrow Cookery School offers cooking classes and workshops for adults and children from Monday to Friday. Led by experienced tutors and chefs, the Harrow Cookery School features a fully equipped training centre and flexible full day, half day, and evening courses.

Suitable even for absolute beginners, classes tend to run for between two and three hours, and prices are available on request by calling 020 8736 6810.

The Veggie Kitchen

In the UK, around 3.1 million people have turned to a vegetarian diet, with more joining their number every year. Founded and run by Jyoti Shah, The Veggie Kitchen in Stanmore was founded in 2002 and specialises in providing hands-on vegetarian cooking lessons to students of all ages.

Covering a range of cuisines, including Chinese, Italian, and Indian, Jyoti has, so far, completed over 1000 classes and takes pride in inspiring her students.

For those celebrating a wedding or other special occasion in 2024, Jyoti also offers Mithai making classes at a fee of £40 per person. Little House of Baking

If you’ve got your eye on becoming a pastry chef or just love to bake, you might want to make the Little House of Baking your new home from home. Situated at 21 Newland Close in Pinner, the Little House of Baking specialises in helping home cooks to improve their baking skills using a variety of ingredients.

Classes are available for both adults and children and are taught by seasoned professionals. One-on-one classes are also available on request, and inquiries should be made via the website at Little House of Baking.

Harrow College

Periodically, Harrow College on Lowlands Road, Harrow offers students the opportunity to study for a C&G Level 1 Certificate in Professional Cookery (7131-03). This type of professional course can usually be studied in person on a full or part-time basis and is most suited to those looking to make a career out of cooking.
