Police find abandoned car after Wealdstone hit-and-run

Police taped off a parade of shops in Wealdstone yesterday evening after a man was injured in a hit-and-run incident at around 7:45pm.

Multiple members of Harrow Online sent images showing police and ambulances at the scene along with a large crowd in Wealdstone.

The area outside Zara Restaurant was cordoned off and the road was closed in both directions at 8:15pm. The road reopened this morning at around 3am.

Met Police told Harrow Online: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service to High Street, Wealdstone, at 19.50hrs on Tuesday, 27 February to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

“Officers attended. A 37-year-old man was found injured. He has been taken to hospital where he is being treated. After surgery, his injuries are deemed to be non-life threatening.

“The car involved in the collision was found abandoned nearby in Wellington Road. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called on Tuesday 27 February at 7.38pm to reports of a road traffic incident in Wealdstone High Street.

“We sent a number of resources including an ambulance crew and an incident response officer.

“We treated a man before takin him to hospital.”
